Missed. In the dark of night, there were only sounds. I heard someone hollering and screaming. Ruth rushed to her window to see her 92yearold neighbors row home glowing from fire. I saw the flames. I said, oh, my gosh. The screaming and hollering. Thats when i got the phone and dialed 911. Good firefighters were on the scene three minutes later. 11 Fire Companies and 40 firefighters and medics rushed to his aid. Despite their best efforts, they werent able to save the veteran. He was not able to make it out on his own. He had one leg, but he used a wheelchair and a walker. When resuwas no longer an option, firefighters went in to recover benjamin boones body. His burned out wheelchair and other personal belongings a reminder to everyone here of exactly what was lost. He was a very nice person. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
