The third time was a charm for the Bastrop school district as voters approved an $183.7 million bond Saturday to build new schools, boost technology infrastructure, upgrade safety and security, and improve existing facilities.
The bond was split in two propositions: Proposition A is an $178.8 million general purpose proposition that would fund the construction of two new elementary schools, the expansion and renovation of existing facilities, safety and security upgrades, and general improvements. Proposition B is a $5.8 million special purpose proposition that would fund improvements to Erhard Field and to the sports center and locker rooms at Bastrop High School.
Proposition A received 67% support as it received 2,713 favorable votes of 4,049 cast. Proposition B received 61% support as it received 2,463 votes of 4,043 cast.
