The Deadly Wildfires devastating maui has now killed at least 36 people. Their bodies discovered in the ruins of the raging inferno. Officials held a News Conference just a short time ago. Primary focus is to save lives. Prevent Human Suffering and mitigate property loss. That is what the counties were and are doing. What we do anticipate is additional requests and were already providing support for trying to get the communications back up, water distribution. Were hearing they may need more Law Enforcement official for federal and state Law Enforcement. So were working through that. The damage to the infrastructure, it is not just buildings, i mean these were Small Businesses that invested in maui. These were local residents and we need to figure out a way to help a lot of people in the next several years. School was destroyed. Many of the businesses, a church was destroyed. It will take years. Devastation was most serious in the town of lahaina, a tourist and economic hub with 9,000
there was a lot of people i think it was so chaotic that nobody knew. there was no phone connections. as much as i was trying to let people know there was no options, i had go. i went and got my kids. and now i got the news that there were like so many friends reporter: coast guard pulled more than 50 people from the ocean who had jumped into escape the flames. still get dead bodies in the water floating and on the seawall. reporter: nearly 11,000 customers remain without power, more than 2,000 residents are in shelters and thousand of travelers are still stranded on the island. the national guard reports they dropped 150,000 gallons of water over the fires and search and rescue efforts continue. primary focus is to save lives, prevent human suffering and mitigate property loss.

rescue, we rescued 348 people, 48 pets, and were able to get those folks to safety. we have currently, you know, a little over 5100 guardsmen that are deployed across louisiana in 29 parishes and we re getting more help from 13 states here from other national guards and i would like to thank the governors, adjutant governors from the other states as well as the national guard bureau for helping us out as well as the active duty service for doing it as well with the army, navy, air force, and marines. holistically we got a tremendous team assembled. lots of resources we can pour into louisiana to meet the needs to save lives, prevent human suffering, and protect infrastructure. you said 348 people, 48 pets. you had 5100 guardsmen. yes, sir. 29 parishes. do you know how many more people still need help tonight? are you still trying to figure
