TUESDAY, May 30, 2023 (HealthDay News) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Brixadi (buprenorphine) extended-release injection to treat moderate-to-severe opioid use disorder.

The spray, known as Opvee, has achieved similar results to Narcan in studies.

The drug is available in 2 formulations, including a weekly injection with a lower dose than previously available as well as a monthly injection.

The FDA has approved a second nasal spray for reversing an opioid overdose.
