The recently discovered temple in Mexicos Yucatán peninsula dates between A.D. 1000 and 1200.

Archaeologists working on the construction of the Tren Maya Hotel in Palenque, Chiapas, Mexico, have uncovered an ancient human burial site. The skeletal remains and funerary items within the tomb are believed to date back to the time when Palenque was known as Lakamha', a pre-Hispanic city.

Mexico archaeologists discovered a lavishly adorned human body in a grave believed to be over 1,000 years old while workers were completing the construction of the Maya Train.

The body was found with three ceramic vases, a pair of earrings and two green stone beads.

The discovery may hold the key to unlocking more of the history of this ancient Maya acropolis, a "best-kept secret" of the Yucatán.

The Mayan Train project has yielded yet another archaeological find. Archaeologists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) recently unearthed two pre-Hispanic residential complexes at the Kabah Archaeological Site, which is situated approximately 100 kilometers from the city of Mérida, Yucatán.

An Atlantean sculpture has been dug up on the path to a new archaeological zone discovered at Chichen Itza. Meanwhile, at Palenque, jewelry and gods aplenty are being unearthed.

Amidst the enigmatic enclave of El Tigre in Mexico, archaeologists have unearthed the skeleton of a young, sacrificed Mayan with a large jade ring buried inside a jar.

The skeleton was found in a flexed position, in a ceramic vessel, wearing an incredibly well-preserved jade ring.

The Mayan Train project has yielded another exciting archaeological find on the Yucatán Peninsula, revealing ancient human remains buried for about 1,200 years. What makes this find special is that the bones of a young person were inside a large burial container, which also contained a beautiful jade ring, according to INAH.
