Morocco announced on Monday that almost a million disadvantaged families would receive direct monthly assistance for the first time as of Thursday, a system unheard of in the kingdom for many years.
The Moroccan government announced on Monday a decision to start the payment of $250 to needy families as part of its emergency program to rehabilitate and help rebuild homes destroyed in the Al Haouz earthquake. Starting from October 6 to October 16, the families benefiting from the program are those whose homes were partially or completely collapsed from the earthquake.
The government is showing no clear initiative as it awaits the monarch’s instructions, while civil society and the military continue to lead the aid effort
