Wilmore s brother, comedian and The Nightly Show host Larry Wilmore, confirmed his death on Twitter on Sunday evening
The TV writer died from COVID-19 , plus other health issues he had been suffering from over the past few years
He started his writing career in the 90s on the TV adaptation of Harry and the Henderson before moving over to Fox comedy series In Living Color
After his stint on In Living Color, he became a writer on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and then The PJs before joining The Simpsons writing staff in 2002
