Northern communities and entrepreneurs will be able to apply for $20 million in grants for local economic development and infrastructure projects.
On Tuesday, federal Government House Leader and Prince George-Peace River Jay Hill announced an additional $20 million from the Community Adjustment Fund will be available through the Northern Development Initiative Trust. In March, Hill and Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification Lynne Yelich announced $10 million in funding would be available through Northern Development.
“The Trust has responded as I knew they would. They could be much more responsive,” Hill said. “These projects will create jobs in the immediate future.”
By delivering the funds through Northern Development, local community leaders are making decisions about which projects to fund, Hill said.
