Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle, 39, have severed ties with the monarchy for good a year on from their stepdown as senior royals. Last Friday Queen Elizabeth II, 94, confirmed the couple would not return as working members of the monarchy and that they would have to give back a number of patronages and titles to the Crown. For Prince Harry, this means he has had to relinquish his treasured ceremonial military titles going forward, including his post and Captain-General of the Royal Marines.

Harry was one of the greatest people we ever had in this country, everywhere I went in the world with him, it was great. He is a lovely person, so I am going to miss him.
However, on Tuesday Jeremy Vine panellist Carole Malone slammed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for insulting Queen Elizabeth II with their response to being stripped of their Royal Family patronages and titles.

Following Meghan and Prince Harry s decision not to return as senior royals one year after they officially stepped down from their full-time working roles within the Firm, the Queen announced her decision to strip them of all their royal and military patronages.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace explained the monarch thinks that in stepping away from the work of The Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service.
