Photo/Courtesy MANCHESTER, N.H.  – The Veterans of Foreign Wars announced this month that a city high school student was among the top national finishers in the organization’s Voice of Democracy scholarship program. Matthew Blair, a junior at Central High School, was named the third place national winner and the recipient of the $10,000 VFW Scholarship award. Blair, who was sponsored by the Queen City Memorial VFW Post, said he was honored by the recognition for his entry in the oratorical competition. “I am so grateful to all the teachers and administrators who helped me along this journey,” Blair said. “This speech really was inspired by my grandfather, his story, and the love for America that he instilled in me.”

Central High School Post date: Nov 2, 2017 12:04:32 PM On Wednesday, October 18, the Central High School Chapter of the National Honor Society welcomed new members into its ranks at the Fall Induction Ceremony. Held in the Atrium of the Central Library, the NHS officers: President Declan Knieriem; Vice President Andy Vo, Secretary; Abby Radwanski; and Treasurer Nickolas Gardner, accompanied by advisor Kathleen Mirabile and Principal John Vaccarezza, presented the new inductees and their families with a short summation of the core principles of NHS. After a brief introduction by the NHS president, the officers reviewed the core standards of NHS: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character to candidates, after which they completed the traditional candle lighting to symbolize each value.
