February 17, 2021 Health authorities have pledged to provide a full statement on Sunday’s death of a nine-year-old child at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital from complications of COVID-19. Media reports out of Trinidad claimed the child died from a condition called Multi-system Inflammatory Syndrome in Children, brought on by the coronavirus. Seven of the new positives were people previously sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility in St Lucy for assessment. The COVID-19 infections continue to rise. Public health authorities last night revealed the country recorded 35 new cases from 902 tests on Tuesday, and another 52 positive results from 2 355 tests conducted on Wednesday. The first inmate to come out of HMP Dodds since COVID-19 struck the prison three weeks ago has described the situation there as “bare sufferation”. The woman, who served five years and 41 days for financial crimes, was due to be released on January 12.
