"Last year, it emerged that doctors were not coming to mohalla clinics but were still shown as present. It was found that despite their absence, tests and medicines were being prescribed. Later, it was found that tests were conducted on ghost patients. Following this, a CBI probe has been ordered," a source said.
“We all have to be vigilant. . If there’s a new business or something going on, and people see medical waste trucks, that could be something,” a county official said.
The accused included an assistant administrative officer, wardboy, aaya, servant and cleaning staff. They allegedly received commission from the private labs whose rates are higher than those at the hospital, the official said. The accused, thus, cheated the patients as well as the government to the tune of lakhs of rupees, a police official said.
