As covert moves have begun towards the 2022 governorship election in Ekiti, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is once again in the news for wrong reasons. The imposition of candidate was arguably the genesis of the protracted crisis in the party, which dated back to September 2017 when former Governor Ayodele Fayose picked his deputy, Prof Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, as the anointed sole candidate before the party primary was fixed.

The exercise was initially scheduled to end on February 23.
APC Director of Organisation, Prof. Al-Mustapha Ussiju Medaner, made this known in a statement on Sunday.
He said the registration will now end on 31 March, due to demands across the states for an extension in order to accommodate all prospective members,
Part of the statement read: “We have gotten a nationwide acknowledgement of the increasing popularity of the All Progressive Congress, APC and most especially in states and regions that are being governed by the opposition party.
“We will shift the end of the registration exercise to Wednesday 31st March, 2021.
