The Supreme Court on Monday refused to stay the acquittal last week of former Delhi University professor GN Saibaba, who was serving a life sentence, and five others - who were accused of Maoist links and charged under-terror law UAPA.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday set aside a Bombay High Court order acquitting former Delhi University Professor G N Saibaba in a Maoist links case and remanded it back to the high court for fresh consideration on merits within four months.

A bench comprising Justices M.R. Shah and Bela M. Trivedi suspended the high courts judgment and issued notice on the appeal filed by the Maharashtra government challenging the order.
