The severe aridity on the Arabian Peninsula, in 6th century A.D., and the other, already known factors, contributed to the downfall of an ancient kingdom, leaving the region fractured and unstable.
Researchers at the University of Basel in Switzerland said that droughts plagued the region throughout the 6th century, with the most severe aridity persisting between 500 and 530 CE.
