CanSense, a biotech startup from Swansea University, has secured £1.5m in funding from Mercia, the Development Bank of Wales, and Nonacus to develop a revolutionary blood test for detecting bowel cancer using laser light and AI. The test is less invasive than current methods and has the potential to reduce pressure on the NHS, which currently spends £300m annually on colonoscopy procedures.
