Host this week join is on the communicators this representative bob latta, the Top Republican on the communications and Technology Subcommittee and our guest reporter is sam sabin of Morning Consult. Congressman latta joining us from bowling green, ohio, there are then several proposals put out to expand world broadband especially in this time of covid. Which ones are you supporting and which ones do you think would benefit your largely rural district . Guest thanks so much for having me on. Its really important we do talking about world broadband. Ive been engaged in this for years and one of the cofounders of the probroadband caucus and with groups that a meeting all the time because this is not a republican or democrat raided the issue. This affects everyone in the rural areas. Its important for us to get this out as soon as we can especially during this covi
Back at this particular moment and talk about facebook the inside story couldnt be more timely. I am just going to start off we have a lot of places to go with this kind going to start with something timely. This morning as we came to the show you heard about the hacking of her and the fact trump has gone to facebook to get his message out. Facebook got a lot of criticism for things over the years and i actually wrote a column recently about why Mark Zuckerberg hasnt fact checked. Tell us about your relationship with facebook and free speech. Im going to throw a big question to launch this off. Guest it is good to be here again with some virtuosi. Like a lot of things you cannot just tease out any one problem of facebook dna in its origins. In the case of trump obviously it wasnt something they talked about but by the time the campaign got rolling in 2015, this became an issue for facebook blather on top of the way that it dealt with controversy and it first came out in 2015 when he po
Enjoy book tv on cspan2. Dental Daarel Burnette joins us on School Reopening. EnPresident Trump has made it clear will open in the fall and has gone so far as to say last week he will cut off federal funding for schools that dont reopen, can he do that . Know or it would be very difficult for them to do that. The biggest thing is that most federal funding has already been set out for the school year. This thing is that congress controls the Purse Strings so they have created rules around exactly when money gets sent out, how much money gets sent out and exactly what School Districts need to do toreceive that money. And then the last thing is that if the congress decides to provide more bailout money for School Districts, they would have to agree to get the strength to betsy devos to decide when to fill out money and how to dole any extramoney out. Our understanding is no one of the things i want to point out is federal money is targeted for low income schools so what betsy devos and do
Pretty good. Were all doing what we can to share a moment, even those avoiding the contagion which supposedly presaged what was going to happenreally didnt capture the full scope. I guess my first question is about the book which is apocalypse never. Its a very definitive statement unless theres nuances that ive missed. It implies certainty in a world of interlaced. I describe our Current Situation as tripwires and landmines that are interlaced and complex and unpredictable in a complex system so are you confident when you say apocalypse never and i guess that depends on the definition of apocalypse. Thanks andy. The arguments in the book is Climate Change is real but its not the end of the world and its not even almost areas environmental problem. I plan climate activist for 20 years, and i see what im trying to do here is more if youre a cancer doctor and theres like a bunch of people are saying everybodys going to die of cancer or billions are going to die of cancer in 10 years goin
It represents commerce, navigation, all of the things that San Francisco is famous for. The wood you see in the board of supervisors chambers is oak and all hand carved on site. Interesting thing about the oak is there isnt anymore in the entire world. The floors in china was cleard and never replanted. If you look up at the seceiling you would believe thats hand kof carved out of wood and it is a cast plaster sealing and the only spanish design in an arts building. There are no records about how many people worked on this building. The workman who worked on this building did not all speak the same language. And what happened was the person working next to the other person respected a skill a skill that was so wonderful that we have this masterpiece to show the world today.
