To implement this protocol, and it is being done today as we speak. The department is going to request funding to meet the increased demand that this is going to create for testing of Sexual Assault kits in our asap program for our expansion. Last year at the crime lab we had two super vicers and 13 criminals in the dna unit and we hired two additional supervisors in the unit and we are in the process of hiring three additional analysts for the dna unit in the laboratory. Once, those hires are c...

Survivor of a Sexual Assault, that kit is transported directly to the crime lab within 72 hours of being collected and it is assigned for analysis immediately there after. So, the group of 894, minus the group of 141 asa cases leaves us with a remainder of 763 assault kits that have not been tested. The chief has ordered the testing of these remaining kids and the department will utilize outsourcing services for test and reduce the impact on demand but this will create in our crime lab and the d...

Very deliberate and organized and you can have a group one ba go through different stages so they are very efficient and the case is moved through the process and they complete four cases and the reports are on a supervisors desk awaiting approval to have the report signed off and the report, or the report signed off and issued to the investigator. And so, while that is going on, they have this additional cases that they are working on and that process it continues, throughout the year. That is ...
