Senator collins, think you for being with us on American History tv. George mitchell was said to be in the same old lbj. I wonder what you thought of that comparison . George was certainly a strong democrat, but he always kept his word. He worked out arrangements and agreements with a wide variety of senators, most notably his counterpart bob dole. He never surprised anyone. It was always straightforward about what he was going to do, what he believed in, and what his goals were. For those qualities, he won a great deal of respect and admiration, even from those on the republican side of the aisle that disagreed with him philosophically.
