Neighborhood, my experiences is that i think people almost universally in the neighborhood would like to see that developed as housing. I mean, we have a housing crisis in this city. And the parking lot itself, you know, in the long run, isnt what the community, i think, is going to want or need. The communitys becoming more tech focused. I think well see a decline in cars. Unless somethings done with the traffic situation there, i mean but tigers will be there forever. Tigers and glen park station, and la corneta, i think, will never go away. You know, this is a dilemma that im probably going to ask the department to explain, but you know, my auntie rosa owned the dry cleaner on the corner for years that had all the Police Uniforms on it. Yeah, thats my dry cleaner. Yeah. Yeah, i really think and to the degree that the five years im here, this is something i would push aggressively to see housing develop, because we do have a crisis, and for me personally, the more we can fill around
This city we must Work Together to protect our immigrant families. We must stand united in the face of intolerance and today with the opening of this new incredible Family Resource center were showing that San Francisco supports all residents. I want to thank sam reese here today for hosting us and acknowledge the latino parity coalition for providing families in need. And im delighted to be here to acknowledge the role they play in diverse families and the newest member is the El Centro Bayview, which will open applause which will open its doors this friday. And it is just such a beautiful facility. Im so excited with how welcoming it will be to the community. Since 2009 the centers have operated across the city providing Cultural Services to families and youth. And with the opening of El Centro Bayview, San Francisco can proudly say 26 centers are serving residents and neighborhoods throughout San Francisco. We would love to see this facility multiuse, and that we have been included in terms of getting some input from us to see that it has one dedicated Pickle Ball Court plus eight Pickle Ball Courts permanently lined is great because it is good to play in Golden Gate Park. I have been playing there for about a year. I have played in other facilities throughout the city, but really, the best place to play is in the park itself. We are a group of about 200 on our mailing list. We recently took a survey. Threequarters of our players are seniors. 55 and older, and half are female. Pickle ball is also the Fastest Growing sport in the nation according to the sports and Fitness Industry association. Growing at 12 per year. Is a critical and beneficial piece of the project. The tlc is the Youth Development program for health and wellness and Emotional Development for under served youth. Currently it served elementary children in three rec centers. They are opening a fourth site and hopes for a fifth. When the Tennis Center reopens it will serve middle School Children that graduated from the elementary sites that show an affinity for continuing tennis instruction. There is a dedicated classroom space and rec room to be used for overflow for the tlc. The rec room can be used to accommodate alternate activities. It will normally house two pingpong tables during the day with a storage closet so they can be tucked away. Here is the garden area south of the building a place to eat lunch and outdoor teaching space, place for events and place to watch tennis. A small theater with movable tables and benches.
