Safety administrations research on drugged driving. We take tremendous pride in protecting americans by partnering with states to enforce strong Highway Safety laws and working to make vehicles safer. Highway fatalities have declined, traffic deaths fallen by 22 in the past decade. With more than 30,000 fatalities each year we must look at new and innovative ways to save lives. Working with our partners and other organizations we made substantial process including drunk driving and seatbelt use and applied the same approaches to emerging concerns such as distracted driving. The legalization of marijuana under state laws poses new concerns and we are working to understand these risks and develop appropriate countermeasures. Available evidence indicates alcohol is the most Common Source of driver impairment. In 2012 more than 30 of traffic deaths involved a driver with blood alcohol level at or above legal limit.
