Unions and bart management are set to resume talks this morning at 9 30, hours best midnight deadline to avoid a strike. Our reporter has been monitoring the talks and has the latest from oakland. Reporter as some Union Members continue crunching numbers on proposals, most called it a night. Chief negotiator and the general manager did not actually arrive here for negotiations until 6 30 in the evening. Thats because both sides say they were going over proposals and comparing numbers. Going upstairs to where the talks are happening. The Lieutenant Governor believes a deal can happen tonight. This make or break bargaining session called for lots of ice and water deliveries. Today there were signs from the union that once chilly negotiations were beginning to thaw. A number of the supplemental issues are getting resolved. Were having good discussions about the economics. We have not reached an agreement yet, but if the parties are open and we are creative, i think we can reach an agreement. We are ready. The unions have made significant modifications so that we can get a deal. But its still beneficial to our members, and still beneficial to the riding public. Reporter will it be enough to avoid a strike monday morning . The Lieutenant Governor, who was sitting in on talks, believes a deal is close. Now city leaders and bart are about to pump 10 million into the heart of berkeley transforming this hub into Something Like this. This is a city being reborn right here.
