Often times, ring to the floor the number of jobs that are created by xm. There are large institutions like a boeing, or small institutions across the country. That may be good. What is never addressed are the jobs that are lost. The minority jobs that are lost. The womans jobs that are lost. Why . Xm has created an unfair competitive advantage. We address that by allowing a mechanism to provide for those firms to be able to bring a challenge to say, our business either could not expand or our business could not create jobs, our business lost jobs or maybe, we even went out of business entirely because of the unfair competition that xm provided. They lose three ways. They pay for the tax dollars to go into the subsidy. The are potentially losing Credit Availability that xm is basically sucking up in the marketplace. And three, they are losing to a competitor that is being subsidized through their own tax dollars. All three are unfair and this is one modest way to slightly change the sy

This guy just wants to put food on the table, to keep the lights on and to give his kids a better life. But the war on cool jobs is taking the war on coal jobs is taking away more than his livelihood and that of many others. It is taking away his dignity as well. Despite little evidence to support that. Too often theyve been unable or unwilling to grapple with the reality of those whose lives the law has forever change for the better. On the other side of the aisle we mostly democrats have often shied away from acknowledging some of the laws weaknesses. I know many of my colleagues have been eager and have offered fixes to the law but willing republican partners, we havent made enough progress. Mr. President , as ive spent time in my home state of delaware in recent months listening to families and other folks whove been affected by the law for better or for worse, its become clear to me that this stalemate is unsustainable. On many days ive met delawareans who love the Affordable Care act whose lyes haveliveshave literally been saved by it. But inbetween those encounters, ive also met many Small Business owners in particular who want to offer Health Insurance to their workers and are struggling to afford it. We come, humbled by the work entrusted to us, to tend to your children, for we know that we are, all of us, your children, bearers of your divine spark. May we remember this, no matter how thick the stacks of paper on our desks. When we are weary, may we be filled with your generosity of spirit. We will pass it on with interest. When we dont know which way to turn, may we find stillness and listen for the soft voice of wisdom.
