Transportation secretary elaine chao outlined the trump administrations infrastructure plan while appearing last week before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. This was her first time testifying before Congress Since being confirmed in january. The hearing is just under two hours. I called this hearing to order and today we are welcoming the secretary of transportation, the honorable elaine chao to testify before the Senate Committee on environment and public works on our nations infrastructure needs. Madam secretary, welcome to the committee. The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee has always taken the lead on infrastructure issues in the senate. When unveiled, other infrastructure proposals will increase funding and provide streamlining requirements for the construction of pipelines, housing and large, urban projects of various kinds that may be privately financed through publicprivate partnerships to name a few of the issues. Outside the New York Stock Exchange where traders and tourists flooded the streets to look up at the sky, but inside the exchange, the light was muted, trading was quiet, vol wr ume was light.
