The NYPD still hasn’t trimmed enough fat to achieve a budget savings target spelled out by Mayor Adams last year, an administration official said Thursday one day after the mayor announced a multi-billion dollar agreement to raise salaries for most of the department’s cops.
Pointing to what he described as a “$4.2 billion hole” in the city’s budget created by the local migrant crisis, Adams said the cutbacks are "smart" and compared himself to the chief executive of a struggling company.
