The government has sought public comments on draft guidelines for prevention and regulation of "dark patterns" which are nothing but tactics used by online players to deceive customers or manipulate their choices. The draft guidelines, issued by the Consumer Affairs Ministry, list various deceptive practices being adopted by online platforms in the nature of dark patterns which are against the interests of consumers.
The Delhi High Court has rejected a plea by Policybazaar, an aggregator of insurance products, seeking to restrain the use of key words identical to its trade marks on Google s AdWords Program by other entities.
While these platforms have urged the government to allow deliveries as part of “essential services similar to the pandemic lockdowns”, sources said the city administration and police have alluded to potential security concerns with free movement of delivery personnel in the controlled areas.
