On Wednesday, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey signed the state's $55.98 billion budget, which includes $524 million toward education and $477 million invested in transportation. The new budget applies to the 2024 fiscal year, which began July 1.

Gov. Maura Healey called the school lunch program “an investment in childhood nutrition that’s also removing a source of stress from our schools and our homes.”
