A dozen people have been arrested and $1.2 million in stolen vehicles recovered as part of an auto theft investigation in Peel Region.

Peel police say 12 people accused of operating a vehicle theft and auto insurance fraud ring in and around the Greater Toronto Area have been arrested following a “lengthy” and “complex” investigation.

Peel Regional Police said they have disrupted and dismantled an organized auto theft ring operating in the region.

Charges have been laid in connection with several investigations by Peel police that looked into violent home invasions, carjackings and jewellery store robberies in the region.
