On Saturday morning, hundreds of girls and their parents came to Kensington Furniture and Mattress on Tilton Road in Northfield where Project Prom AC held its annual free prom dress giveaway. With prom season around the corner, girls got to pick out a dress and any jewelry and accessories — all free — that were donated to the organization.

New initiative gives prom dresses a second chance to shine at a fraction of the cost.

Project Prom, a Thompson Education Foundation (TEF) program that provides free prom and formal attire to local high school students each spring, will be collecting formal attire and accessory donations during the months of February and March at local drop-off locations.

HANNIBAL – The Northeast Coalition for Roadway Safety is offering grant funding to local schools that hold student lock-in events for Project Prom or high school graduation. Eligibility requirements include a presentation or activity educating students on highway safety issues. Qualifying schools will receive $200 each to assist with event expenses such as location rental, food or entertainment.

Project Prom will hold its annual pop-up shop event March 9-11 at Kensington Furniture, 200 Tilton Road in Northfield.
