Russell Westbrook along with his wife, Nina, and longtime business partner, Donnell Beverly have partnered with LA Promise Fund to launch the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Middle and High Schools, known collectively as Russell Westbrook Why Not? Academy with the goal of ensuring students in South Los Angeles have access to high quality athletic programs while balancing a strong education and leadership development. Westbrook and Beverly will also sit on the board to help oversee developments at the schools.

Washington Wizards basketball player and astute businessman Russell Westbrook, along with his wife, Nina, and longtime business partner, Donnell Beverly, have announced that they have partnered with LA Promise Fund to launch the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Middle and High Schools.
“Creating and supporting educational opportunities for underserved youth has always been a passion of mine. It’s so important that every child has access to a good education regardless of their socioeconomic background. My goal in partnering with the LA Promise Fund is to ensure our South L.A. students are ready for college and ultimately success in a 21st-century career,” said Westbrook in a written statement.

Russell Westbrook has dedicated himself to excellence on the basketball court and in doing so, has reaped many blessings. Now he wants to follow in the footsteps of other current and former NBA stars like Alonzo Mourning, Jalen Rose, and
LeBron James by extending those blessings to those coming after him.
People, Westbrook will follow in the footsteps of the legendary players by also establishing a school in his name. In conjunction with L.A. Promise Fund, the 32-year-old Washington Wizards player, a Los Angeles native, is planning to open the Russell Westbrook Why Not Academy in South L.A., which will be a middle and a high school.
