Police in the southern Indian state of Karnataka have registered a case against chief of Hindu Jagaran Vedike, for allegedly making derogatory statements about the Holy Quran and Muslims.

The Khadim of Ajmer Dargah, Salman Chishti, was arrested by the police after he spoke about giving his house to anyone who beheaded former spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party Nupur Sharma.

The chief of the anti-terror probe agency NIA on Monday met Amit Shah and briefed him about the progress in the ongoing investigations into the killings of two people in Rajasthan's Udaipur and Maharashtra's Amravati, officials said.

An open letter has been sent to CJI NV Ramana, signed by 15 retired judges, 77 retired bureaucrats and  25 retired armed forces officers, against the observation made by Justices Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala while hearing Nupur Sharmas case in the Supreme Court on July 1.

After Supreme Courts observation on the Nupur Sharma comment row, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said that he will discuss the issue on an appropriate platform.

Reportedly, both Justice Pardiwala and Justice Surya Kant were targeted on social media by users after their comments against Sharma during the hearing of her plea.

Kolkata Police is the first to issue a lookout notice against Sharma on this issue.

Kanhaiya Lal was hacked to death on Tuesday allegedly by two men for extending support on social media to a controversial remark against Prophet Mohammad by now suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

One of them recorded a video about his plans to kill days before the incident. The other owned a grocery store and was known to be religious.
