The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued contempt notice to two members of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) for delivering a judgement violative of a status quo order passed by the Supreme Court. A bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra prima facie noted that even though the NCLAT bench was informed of the Supreme Court's order, it went on to pass judgement., India News, Times Now

Chief Justice Chandrachud, who was heading the bench pronouncing its verdict on 21 pleas seeking legal validation for same-sex marriages, said the court can't make law but only interpret it and it is for Parliament to change the Special Marriage Act.
