On Saturday, Dec. 12, Flagler College held its commencement exercises for graduating seniors. Approximately 396 students received diplomas at The Amp, an outdoor auditorium owned by St. Johns County.
The graduating number is unusually high, as Flagler was unable to hold its graduation in the spring due to COVID-19. Instead, it offered the scheduled fall graduation date to its spring graduating seniors as an option to walk across the stage and receive their diplomas in person. All health and safety measures were in effect, including dividing the graduates into two ceremonies: a 1 p.m. commencement for Summer and Fall graduates and a 7 p.m. commencement for Spring graduates. Both ceremonies had remote participants as the entire event was live-streamed.
