Satisfaction
There’s a certain satisfaction that comes from seeing projects and initiatives falling into place and materializing before your eyes. You can call it progress, or teamwork, or any number of similar words, but the feeling of satisfaction is there, nonetheless.
That feeling comes from the creation of another downtown mural, garnering widespread press attention and great reviews on Facebook. It comes from seeing a whole crew of volunteers spending a Saturday morning planting flowers at the mini-parks to add seasonal color to a downtown focal point. It comes from new businesses continuing to open on The Ave and setting the stage for another series of ribbon-cuttings. It comes from progress being made with our walking trail in our Walk The Ave initiative. It comes from the feeling that we could be turning the corner on this COVID crisis, just when we’re getting ready for our major outdoor events.

Be a Sponsor
Now that we’ve got our calendar of events for the year nailed down, we’re getting sponsorship forms ready for the events. We’ll have forms for each event and various sponsorship levels that are tailored to the specific event.
I’ve written about sponsorships and partnerships in this column before but it’s worth repeating. Events are fun to have, but they come at a cost. Our operations come at a cost. In order to minimize the effect that our events have on our budget, we seek out sponsors to help defray our costs. Because of the COVID situation forcing us to cancel quite a few of our events last year, our revenue from sponsorships took a hit. We need to help make that up this year.
Filling in the Calendar
We have been hard at work filling in this year’s calendar of Main Street Vineland events part of the “hunkering down” process for the first part of the year.
We have, at this point, a limited calendar, with some events still uncertain. Even with those events for which we have scheduled dates, we have to take a cautiously optimistic approach. Positive strides are being taken to tame the COVID crisis and allow us to take steps toward greater normalcy, but we cannot be positive of the future. So, even with the events where we have filled in dates, we have to take a certain “wait and see” attitude regarding any later changes. Of course, we’re going to take all precautions to make the events as safe as possible. Here’s what we have so far:
