Counting of votes began at 8 am today for 117 assembly seats in Punjab, where a sweeping victory is expected for the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), according to multiple exit polls.
Arvind Kejriwal, appearing vindicated after the massive Punjab sweep, addressed a deafening crowd of supporters, saying that the people of Punjab have told the country that "Kejriwal is not a terrorist".
The Election Commission had deployed flying squads and stationary surveillance teams to check the movement of cash, liquor, drugs, freebies and precious metals during elections.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Gurmeet Singh Khudian, who defeated Shiromani Akali Dal chief Parkash Singh Badal from the Lambi seat, said that from the first day onwards, people walked along with him and supported him.
