Katin Houser, Maliq Carr hook up late to rally Spartans past Hoosiers 24-21

Michigan State tight end Maliq Carr spent four seasons envisioning the perfect ending. Carr caught eight passes for 88 yards, using his 6-foot-6, 260-pound body to bounce off defenders for his second score of the game — a 36-yard catch-and-run with 1:19 left — to rally the Spartans past the Hoosiers 24-21. “Maliq is a baller, we all know that here,” interim coach Harlon Barnett said after celebrating his second career win.

Porter scores two touchdowns and Northwestern beats Purdue 23-15

Cam Porter scored a pair of rushing touchdowns to help Northwestern become bowl-eligible with a 23-15 win over visiting Purdue. After starting the season under the cloud of a hazing scandal and subsequent firing of longtime head coach Pat Fitzgerald, the Wildcats (6-5, 4-4 Big Ten) are writing an unlikely but happy ending. “It’s been an incredible week,” Northwestern coach David Braun said.

After lifting interim tag from Braun, Northwestern tries to become bowl eligible against Purdue

Line: Purdue by 3, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The Boilermakers snapped a four-game losing streak last week with a 49-30 romp over Minnesota. It’s been more than two months since Purdue’s victory at Virginia Tech and with two winnable games left, the Boilermakers can finish Ryan Walters’ first season with some momentum.

Zach Edey and Braden Smith help No. 2 Purdue pass first real test with 83-71 win over Xavier

Zach Edey's second-half presence Monday night put pressure on Xavier. Edey scored 20 of his 28 points in the second half while grabbing 11 rebounds and Braden Smith added 12 points and seven assists as the second-ranked Boilermakers pulled away late for an 83-71 victory over the Musketeers in their final Gavitt Tipoff game. “We tried to keep him between a body and the basket and limit his offensive rebounds, his deep catches," Xavier coach Sean Miller said.
