A complaint has been filed with the Central Election Commission (CEC) Belagavi by Bhimappa Gadad, an RTI activist, against the chief electoral officer of the state for not taking action against CM Siddaramaiah for violating the code of conduct in Varuna constituency. The activist alleges that Siddaramaiah was elected by distributing cookers and iron boxes to lure voters. The activist is seeking to invalidate Siddaramaiah's election.
