Unwanted guests are slithering all over the Everglades and training to remove them in anticipation of the 2023 Florida Python Challenge begins on Thursday.

The Everglades ecosystem issue of being choked out by pythons has been going on so long that it is now a part of our existing environment.

In the same week a record was set for the longest Burmese python caught in Florida, another record was set for number of eggs found in a nest.

The 13-foot, 9-inch snake was hovering over 111 eggs, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

“She’s literally, like, still laying.”

A contractor working to remove invasive Burmese pythons in the Everglades discovered a nest of 111 python eggs.
