Air Quality Alert extended as Canadian Wildfires in Quebec affect Upstate New York Weather

The orange, smoky haze in the sky today is caused by rampaging wildfires in Canada and the northwest winds blowing the smoke across New York State.

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality on Tuesday issued a Code ORANGE Air Quality Alert for the region — valid from 11:59 p.m. Tuesday to midnight Wednesday.

Temperatures will fall into the 60s and a few upper 50s tonight into early tomorrow morning.
