ATLANTIC CITY — A city man was arrested days after an anonymous tip claimed he was seen hiding a handgun behind an apartment building, police said Thursday.
The Atlantic City Police Department acted on information texted into tip411 leading to the recovery of a handgun.
On June 12, 2023, information began to be submitted to tip411, the department’s anonymous texting service, regarding a man that placed a firearm in the rear of an apartment building. Patrol officers responded to the area of the 2800 block of Atlantic Avenue where police located a handgun in crawl space that was open to the public. Officers identified 23 year old Quanife Wynn of Atlantic City as the man that discarded the gun. On June 14, officers attempted to arrest Wynn after the detectives saw him at Tennessee and Atlantic Avenues. Wynn ran from the detectives as they approached. He was apprehended and taken into custody and found in possession of marijuana that was packaged for distribution.
