Chinese scientists make quantum leap in secure direct communication-

China and the US are racing for quantum technology breakthroughs in weapons, communications, sensing, and computing that could tilt the balance between the world’s military forces.

In 2021, South China Morning Post reported that China had used its experimental quantum communication network to protect its power grid – the largest in the world – from security threats.

Light can be used to distribute quantum information rapidly, efficiently, and in a secure, tap-proof manner. Researchers of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Strasbourg University, Chimie P ...

This technological breakthrough was achieved over a commercial-grade optical fiber already available in the field, DRDO said in a statement.

Quantum technology field comprises four domains: Quantum Communication, where an individual or entangled photons are used to transmit data in a provably secure way; Quantum Simulation, where well-controlled quantum systems are used to reproduce the behavior of other, less accessible quantum systems; Quantum Computation, which employs quantum effects to dramatically…

During the demonstration, scientists managed to create an atmospheric channel on the ground to enable sharing of quantum-secure text, image transmission and quantum-assisted two-way video calling.
