Researchers developed a special type of amplifier that uses a technique known as squeezing to amplify quantum signals by a factor of 100 while reducing the noise that is inherent in quantum systems by an order of magnitude. Their device is the first to demonstrate squeezing over a broad frequency bandwidth of 1.75 gigahertz, nearly two orders of magnitude higher than other architectures.

If scaled up successfully, the teams new system could help answer questions about certain kinds of superconductors and other unusual states of matter.
January 31, 2023
UCD researchers believe this new quantum device can be scaled up to solve physics problems that are too complex for digital computers.
January 31, 2023
A new type of analog quantum computer has been invented that can tackle physics problems that digital supercomputers can't solve.
January 31, 2023
An analog quantum simulator could answer the most pressing unsolved questions in the field of quantum physics. Heres how the computer works.
January 30, 2023
MIT physicists found a way to switch superconductivity on and off in magic-angle graphene. The discovery could lead to ultrafast superconducting transistors for โneuromorphicโ electronics that operate similarly to the rapid on/off firing of neurons in the human brain.
