doctor marc siegel joins us now. while this was incredibly surprising to me 64 ounces is about 2 liters of water in just 20 minutes. it is a tragic and surprising i will start off with you dr. kagan what are his water toxicity? >> first of all, bryan good afternoon. we do not know her medical issues. i do want to tell you the kidneys on general can only handle about a liter an hour or a quart an hour of water of pure water. the first issue there as she was drinking pure water and not electrolyte solutions with it. i will explain what that means but the key here is the kidneys. if you are drinking pure water they want to get rid of it and preserve the amount of sodium you have in the blood. they do not want a situation -- make the body does not want a situation where your sodium level goes way down because you over diluted with water. now the other issue here is the rapidity of drinking brewed everyone out there i'm a huge believer in rehydration you know that.
