good evening everyone. i m in for dan tonight. they waited until the very last day of the session but state lawmakers today manage to degree on something significant and far reaching. they sent the governor a pension reform bill that could save the state millions of dollars over time. annette reports from the capitol with today s developments. with cost spiraling out of control and public pressure mounting to fix the problem the legislature sent governor brown a sweeping package aimed at over hauling state and local public pension. make sure our pensions are affordable so we the public in the long run but also depend and dependable forth workers who toil away and public service for 20 or 30 years. reporter: while endinging abuses like pension spiking roll back benefit for new hire while raising contribution that is those workers and current employees must make to at least half of the payments to their pension. most will also have to work longer and only the first 110,0
good morning. welcome to mornings on 2, everyone. it s saturday, september 1. i m mike mibach. cool and the clouds widespread once again. a little bit of patchy drizzle out there for the afternoon. we will be warmer than yesterday, but still below the seasonal average for this time of year. we do have a warm-up in store for the second half of your weekend. i ll bring you those numbers coming up. in overnight news, a fast moving fire barreled right through two houses in concord. a tower of flames and smoke blew through windows and itself roof of the homes on margo drive near concord boulevard. ali rasmos is live. reporter: they re trying to figure out how the fire started. they re uh-1 ever the homeowners. it appears the fire started in the garage of that home where that fire investigator is walking through because that was the area most badly burned right next to that chimney. in a matter of minutes, the flames engulfed the home and then spread to the house next door.
