Shares of the online food delivery platform Zomato Ltd declined by over 6% on Monday after the announcement that it will acquire quick commerce company Blink Commerce Pvt Ltd (Blinkit) for Rs4,447.48 crore.

The Blinkit acquisition highlights the hyper-competitive and cash-hungry character of the fast commerce industry. 

The board of online food delivery firm Zomato has approved the purchase of quick commerce company Blinkit, which was earlier known as Grofers. This deal has been done for Rs 4,447.48 crore.

Online food delivery major Zomato on Friday announced it had acquired quick-commerce platform Blinkit for Rs 4,447 crore (about $568 million) in an all-stock deal.
