Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz (File photo) MANILA - The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has credited several factors including intensified collection efforts for the positive performance of its 17 Collection Districts last month. In a statement Monday, Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz reported that the bureau has an accumulated earnings of PHP78.9 billion in August. Based on a preliminary report from Financial Service, the BOC collected PHP20 billion, or 34.1 percent more than its target collection of PHP58.8 billion for the month. Ruiz attributed the positive collection to streamlining, digitizing, and modernizing systems and the improving economy resulting in a higher volume of imports. The generated revenue of PHP78.9 billion includes the PHP77.9 billion collection from all collection districts, PHP248.2 million from the Post Clearance Audit Group (PCAG), and PHP677.4 million from the Tax Expenditure Fund (TEF).
