In a statement Monday, Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz reported that the bureau has an accumulated earnings of PHP78.9 billion in August. Based on a preliminary report from Financial Service, the BOC collected PHP20 billion, or 34.1 percent more than its target collection of PHP58.8 billion for the month. Ruiz attributed the positive collection to streamlining, digitizing, and modernizing systems and the improving economy resulting in a higher volume of imports.
