(The Center Square) – The Ohio House could take up a bill this week that would force clear language on ballots for potential property tax increases and stop school districts
When one goes to the polls, there are several different property tax levies they could see on their ballot. A “renewal levy” reinstates an already existing one, a “renewal with an increase,” reinstates an already existing one with an increase, and a “replacement” recalculates property taxes owed based on the latest valuation of one’s home, oftentimes resulting in an increase.
A bipartisan bill filed last week by two Ohio House lawmakers would cap out-of-pocket costs for insulin and devices used in the treatment of diabetes. The move comes after the Biden administration in 2022 capped costs for Medicare patients, and after the big manufacturers themselves have begun taking steps to bring down prices.
