Funeral ceremonies begin for late Iranian leader Ebrahim Raisi, as the country enters a period of national mourning.

The bodies will travel to the holy Shiite seminary city of Qom before travelling to Tehran later Tuesday. On Wednesday, a funeral presided over by Khamenei will then turn into a procession as well

Thousands gather in Tabriz to mourn Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions, who died in a helicopter crash. The state funeral will be held in Tehran, with global leaders in attendance. Raisi will be buried in the Imam Ali Raza Mausoleum in Mashhad.

The funeral procession for late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and other officials who died in a helicopter crash started Tuesday in the northwestern city of Tabriz, News.Az reports citing Anadolu Agency.

Mourners walk behind lorry carrying coffins of Raisi and those who died with him, including foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

The flights carrying the bodies of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials from Tabriz landed in Tehran on Tuesday, Press TV reported.
