Radioactive material went into the air and people predicted that thousands would die, that cancer rates would increase. in fact, after ten years of studying it, the u.n. has put out three reports indicating that those things did not happen, the total loss of life was 50 in the explosion from direct radiation, a thousand cases of leukemia in the village of chernobyl, 998 were cured. so i think right now it would be better to at least reduce the fears of the people with regard to nuclear radiation...

And you can foresee outcomes where most of the radiation, radioactive material stays inside. but its just not clear at this moment where its going. >> what i cant understand in this, in terms of the planning, as to where they put these nuclear plants, is, in a country like japan, they have a lot of earthquakes so you could choose any one country and it could be deemed a risk. why would you put them anywhere near the ocean? when we know that tsunamis can get triggered by earthquakes? because unle...

And that is going to be good news for residents who live over towards the west. i also want to point out to you that the winds will be peaking at 42 miles per hour. that will help with the mixing of the radiation leaking out of the plant. in addition to the winds, were also talking about the temperatures outside. very cold. notice anywhere up towards the north, dealing with temperatures generally in the single digits. feels even cooler when you add in that wind. in addition to that, were also go...

The question, though-s whether -- and we dont have an answer to this. and i think we should be cautious about it. is whether the containment vessel, that last line of defense, has been breached. tom i thought made some very interesting observations about what might be circumstantial evidence for that. in addition, the utility was complaining earlier, and its reported now from the world nuclear association, that they put a bunch of water into the vessel but the water level did not rise. that sort...

Now, were talking so much about radiation and exactly what it is the potential dangers and the potential risks. what we need to clarify here is what sort of radiation were talking about. now, there is radiation, radioactive material that is created inside the reactor uranium and byproducts. there is also material released into the atmosphere when they vent, release steam to release pressure from the reactors core. thats considered noble gases and it is less dangerous. weve been speaking to our c...
