Kandiyohi County was successful in obtaining $4.8 million in federal funding to help fund the completion of the County State Aid Highway 55 Highway-Rail Grade Separation project south of Willmar.

Kandiyohi County and the city of Willmar did not fare well in Gov. Walz’s bonding bill announcement on Tuesday. None of the local projects requesting state bonding funds were on the governor’s list.

Rep. Dave Baker and Sen. Andrew Lang spoke Monday to the Willmar City Council about what happened in St. Paul this past year and what could happen in 2022. This includes a bonding bill and continued work on getting opioid lawsuit settlement money to the local level.

The Minnesota House Capital Investment Committee visited Willmar on Tuesday to gather information about three local projects requesting funds from the biannual bonding bill. Willmar Municipal Utilities, Kandiyohi County Public Works and the Southwest West Central Service Cooperative presented in front of the visiting legislators about the projects.
